ASHLAND: Peggy S. Roberts, 53, of Ashland, died surrounded by her family on Saturday afternoon, May 7, in Ohio State University Medical Center after a five week illness.

Peggy was born January 28, 1958 in Kettering Hospital, Loudonville and was the first infant to use the incubator at the hospital. She had lived in Ashland the last 2 years, moving from Perrysville where she had lived most of her life. Peggy was a 1976 graduate of Loudonville High School and the Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center. Peggy was employed in the dietary department of Dale-Roy School and Training Center for 10 years. She had previously worked at Mellor's Restaurant, the Malabar Inn, and the Loudonville Inn.

She was a member of Polk Baptist Temple and was a volunteer with Ashland County Special Olympics. She loved bowling, crocheting and playing Bingo.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Mandi Atherton) Roberts of Perrysville; her parents, Charles H. and Elizabeth E. Garbeth Easterday of Loudonville; and six sisters, Mary (Al) Mellor of Loudonville, Debbie Worley of Clifton, NJ, Patty (Terry) Thatcher of Loudonville, Margie (BJ) Bennett and Sherry (Jeff) Beal, both of Ashland, and Amy (Kevin) Rich of Pataskala.

She was preceded in death by her son, Roy L. Roberts in 1995.

Peggy touched many lives with her work at Dale-Roy and at Special Olympics, and she will be sadly missed by her son, parents and sisters.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. in Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville with Pastor Don Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
