James Ralph "Jim" Sellers

LOUDONVILLE: James Ralph "Jim" Sellers, 87, of Loudonville, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 13th, 2011, in Hospice of North Central Ohio, Ashland, following a 3-week illness. Jim was born May 25, 1924 in eastern Richland County and was the son of the late Amos and Blanche (Craig) Sellers. Jim lived all of his life in the Loudonville area and was a 1941 graduate of Loudonville High School. He worked a number of years in the Crestline roundhouse of the Pennsylvania Railroad and later served a ten year stint as projectionist in Loudonville's Ohio Theater. He retired in 1987 from Mansfield Plumbing Products after 32 years of service. On June 9, 1948 he married Kathryn Gaumer and she survives him. They just recently celebrated 63 happily married years together. Jim enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees and was still pining for another Indians World Series championship. He enjoyed bike riding as well as deer and mushroom hunting. Jim was an avid gardener, readily sharing the fruits of his labor with many Loudonville area residents over the years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathryn Gaumer Sellers, a daughter: Cheryl (Tom) Thompson of Loudonville; 3 sons: Gary (Sheila) Sellers of Lexington, Merill Sellers of Groveport, and Jim (Lauri) Sellers of Galena. Jim and Kathryn are blessed with 8 grandchildren: Staci (Mick) Fry, Erik (Danielle Thompson, Ryan (Christine) Thompson, Lindsay Sellers, Kristin Sellers, Danny Sellers, Gabriel Sellers, and Lydia Sellers. However, there was still room in Jim and Kathryn's heart to love three more children in their senior years: great-grandchildren: Garett Fry, Sydney Fry, and Nori Thompson. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Irene Butler of Loudonville, and LaDonna Price of Perrysville. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Harold, Donald, and Robert "Bob" Sellers, and 3 sisters: Lois Wright, Virginia Gaumer, and Mary Sellers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Monday Oct. 17th in Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with Rev. John Fitch officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
