Marilyn Robertson Obituary
Marilyn F. Robertson

MANSFIELD: Marilyn F. Robertson of Mansfield passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 in Millcreek Nursing Home, Galion following a brief illness. She was 84.

Marilyn was born September 20, 1927 in Mansfield to James and Effie (Miller) Austin and was graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1946. She married James D. Robertson on January 17, 1948 and they remained lifelong area residents. For the past four years Marilyn made her home at Primrose Retirement Community.

She was a charter member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, served on the Rosary Altar Society, and sang in the choir. Marilyn enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, her cat "Tippy", and her sweets too.

A loving and selfless person, Marilyn knew the value of family. She tried to live her life so she would be a good teacher and set an example to those she cherished - her children and grandchildren. Kindness and manners were very important to her; she never missed a chance to say please or thank you. She stayed close with her siblings and was the caregiver for her mother and her sister, Pat.

Marilyn is survived by her children and their spouses Becki and Jim Watson and Patti and Dick Jacobs all of Mansfield, Michael and Eileen Robertson of Altoona, PA; nine grandchildren and spouses Dennis and Natalie Basinger, Julie and Todd Shisler, Todd and Jenny Watson, Adam Grogg, Jason and Kristin Jacobs, Tara and Greg Rhodus, Kevin and Chelsea Robertson, Charissa and Kyle Mallery, and Bryan and Angela Robertson; great grandchildren Whitney Basinger, Jaelynn Basinger, Jacob Lund, Chad Watson, Nathan Watson, Lucas Watson, Sydney and Adrienne Browning, Scott and Lily Robertson, Rylee Mallery, Emily, Kailey, Brooklyn Robertson, Brennan, Taylor, Olivia Finfgeld and Sophia Jacobs; a sister Helen Boesch of Primrose in Mansfield and numerous in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her husband James D. Robertson in 1996 and four sisters Margaret Schill, Kathryn Dekrell, Eleanor Holloway and Pat Dysart.

The Robertson family will receive friends Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 11am to 1pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where her funeral service will follow at 1pm. The Very Reverend Father Nelson Beaver will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions to the Richland County Humane Society or St. Mary's of the Snows Catholic Church may be made at the funeral home.
