BELLVILLE: Darryl Browning had an unforgettable laugh. Matched with a jolly disposition it seemed easy for Darryl to lighten the mood. Although it was a built-in characteristic to be happy, Darryl's joy stemmed from his unwavering faith in Christ.
Darryl Browning of Delaware and formerly of Bellville, fought the good fight and kept his faith after passing away Saturday morning May 5, 2012 in the Arbors of Delaware. He was 74.
Darryl was born February 8, 1938 in Crites, West Virginia the son of Roy and Dorothy (Tate) Browning. Darryl first met Fay Flynn at Cedar Brook Dairy and on December 17, 1965 the two were married.
On July 26, 1961 Darryl joined the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Dixie. He was honorably discharged on July 23, 1965.
Calling Bellville his home, Darryl worked as supervisor for Gorman-Rupp Industries Bellville Division. Both loyal and committed Darryl retired after 38 years.
Christ's faithful servant, while a member of First Baptist Church, Darryl served as adult Sunday school teacher, music leader, and chairman of deacons. He was also a member of Green Valley Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and recently Delaware Christian Church.
Darryl and Fay loved to travel, taking trips out west for weeks at a time.
Darryl loved to sing and was proud of his grandchildren's interest in music. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Darryl leaves a legacy of love, commitment and dedication to Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Anna Fay (Flynn) Browning of Delaware; daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Chris Adams of Delaware; grandchildren Caleb and Anna Adams of Delaware; brothers and sisters-in-law Walter and Anita Browning, Fred and Edna Browning and Paul and Michele Browning all of West Virginia, sisters and brothers-in-law Trudy and Don Cornish of Florida, Ann and Robert Dudley of North Carolina, and Ellen and Dick Reece of West Virginia; sister-in-law Joanne Browning of Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Cecil and Pat Flynn, Jewelene and Bill Smith, Tom and Becky Flynn and Daryl and Barb Flynn all of Bellville; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; special uncle and aunt Willis and Nilene Browning of West Virginia.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Diane Browning and brothers Lloyd, Junior and Curtis Browning.
Memorial services celebrating the life of Darryl Browning will be on Tuesday May 8, 2012 at 7pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the family will receive friends two hours prior from 5-7pm. Pastor Dan Taylor will officiate and military honors will be performed by the Bellville American Legion Post #535.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions to Delaware City Schools Music Department be made through the funeral home.
