GALION: Mildred C. Potter, 91, of 1311 Harding Way East, Galion, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Galion Community Hospital after a short illness.
Mildred was born in Bucyrus on April 5, 1921 to the late George O. and Emma L. (Nick) Christman. She married Fred E .Potter, Jr. on February 23, 1944 and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1980.
Mildred was employed by Weavers IGA, Food Town, T & A, and Arnett's Grocery as a grocery clerk. She had also worked at Maloy's Bakery. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion. Mildred loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a former member of Moose Lodge #303, Galion and American Legion Post 243 Auxiliary, Galion. Mildred enjoyed word find books, solitaire and working in her yard, getting every leaf and twig cleaned up.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Dave) Rowland, Galion: three grandchildren, Ronald (Angie) Perman, Jr., Crestline, Allen (Tina) Perman, Crestline, and Cheryl Perman, Galion; five great-grandchildren, Lisa, John, Dylan, Grace and Alayna; one great-great granddaughter, Chloe; and one sister, Eileen Nelson, Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Potter; and two brothers, Gene Christman and George Christman.
Friends may call Friday, May 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion where a Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 P.M. with Deacon Greg Kirk officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. John Miller, celebrant. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
