Raymond George Richards

MANSFIELD: Raymond George Richards, 74, of Mansfield died Monday, October 1, 2012 at OSU Medical Center. Born September 6, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Elmer W. and Mary (Kratzenberg) Richards. Ray retired after 40 years from Crane Plumbing where he was also a member of the union. He enjoyed cooking, camping, and collection memorabilia The Christmas Story. Ray was also active in bowling leagues and coached and ran the baseball program of Madison summer youth little league. He was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather and would do anything for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores (Fitzgerald) Richards of Mansfield; sons, Raymond W. (Lisa) Richards and Kenneth A. Richards; daughter, Donna (Michael) Eagleston; grandchildren, Brittany, Holli, Lauren, Justin, Jarrett, and Jordan; three great grandchildren; brother Joe, half brother, Frankie; half sisters, Linda and Rosemary; uncle Charles Scheiber; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Raymond Richards and sister, JoAnn Melczak.

Friends may call Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Kent Joy. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
