MANSFIELD: James Earl Smith, 59, of 453 Sloane Ave. died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Smith was born on Thursday, January 1, 1953 to the late Riley and Iola McBeth Smith, in Fostoria and had lived in Mansfield the past 33 years. James received a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Tiffin University. He was a former employee of Bunting Bearing Manufacturing and after 12 years with the Mansfield City School System he became disabled. James was a member of the Seven Day Adventist Church and the Mansfield Senior High School Tyger Booster Club. He enjoyed fishing, was a devoted husband and father with his grandchildren serving as the diamonds in his crown. He believed in family first.
James is survived by his wife of 31 years Earlean Sutton Smith; 2 sons, Brooks, and Brandon Smith, Mansfield; daughter, Rachelle Sutton, Mansfield; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Doris (Arnold) Langley, Genise (Merle) Robinson, and Vickie Smith, Fostoria; and brother, David (Sarah) Smith, Fostoria.
In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Thelma and Lucy Smith, Mellissa Doster; and 2 brothers, Rueben Parks, Sr., and Rev Aldolphus Smith.
Friends may call Tuesday from 1-4 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Services. Friends may also call from 5-6 p.m. at the Seven Day Adventist Church, 1040 W. Cook Rd. where the funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM with his minister, Pastor Edward Martin officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 10 AM in Mansfield Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at their home daily from 4-8 p.m. till the day of service.
