Mrs. Anna Vrantsidis

MANSFIELD: Mrs. Anna Vrantsidis, 89, departed peacefully to be with our Lord on November 17, 2012 at Lexington Court Care Center, after her long hard fought battle with Alzheimer's disease. Anna was born in Atrapos, a small village outside of Florina Greece in 1923. She immigrated to the United States in 1962 where she worked as a seamstress in Canton, Ohio. She later moved to Melbourne Australia with her husband Ziso Vrantsidis in 1967. After her husband's death in 2003 she moved back to Mansfield, Ohio where she lived with her daughter Mrs. Antina George for the remainder of her life.

Anna is preceded in death by her mother and father, Maria and George Vellios, her brother John and his son Thomas Vellios, sister Lozana Demeris, and son-in-law Paul N. George. She is survived by her daughter, Antina George, grandson, Dr. Christopher George, granddaughter Susie and her husband Matthew Watson, and two great grandchildren Michael and Jonathon Watson (Dublin, Ohio); sister-in-law, Vasiliki Vellios (Massillon, Ohio); nephews: William, George and James Vellios (Massillon, Ohio) and their extended families.

She was a member of the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. She spent her life helping people and living the Christian teachings of the Bible. She loved God and the Orthodox Church with all of her heart. She was a very devoted and beloved: daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Anna was a very good person who touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Calling hours will be at Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario, Ohio on Monday, November 19, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Father Michael Ellis of the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church will be performing a Trisagion service at the funeral home at 6:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 265 West 3rd Street, Mansfield, Ohio. The burial service will be held at Mansfield Cemetery immediately following the church service.

In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made in loving memory of Anna to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.

The family would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to the medical staff of: MedCentral Hospital, MedCentral Hospice, and Lexington Court Care Center for their excellent and compassionate care of Anna during the last nine months of her life.
