BELLVILLE: Richard Lee Stein, 83, of Bellville, passed away Wednesday morning, November 21, 2012, at Hospice of North Central Ohio. He was born on December 20, 1929, to Ovid and Verna Houser Stein in Marshallville, Ohio.
Dick graduated from Bellville High School in 1947. Marrying his high school sweetheart, Marilyn May Bauer, on March 5, 1949, together they had three children. Dick worked hard to provide for his family. He took over his family's business, the BC&S Elevator, and then worked for Therm-O-Disc in plant maintenance until his retirement. Dick enjoyed spending time out at the woods they owned-the "Back Forty"-cutting firewood and making maple syrup. When he and Marilyn purchased a home on Honey Creek Rd. that had some land to play on, he bought a backhoe. He thoroughly enjoyed running that backhoe, which earned him the nickname "Digger"- he was always out there digging up something, or mowing the fields, anything to be outside. There wasn't much that Dick couldn't fix, be it auto mechanical or around the house, and he contributed a lot of time helping his son and daughter with the construction of their homes. Dick enjoyed time with his grandchildren too, spending lots of time hauling them around on the 4-wheeler or golf cart.
Dick is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter Linda (Perry) Kyser of Eau Claire, WI, son David (Sherrye) of Bellville, and son-in-law Dean Robison of Bellville. Also surviving are their grandchildren, Amy Robison Gundrum (Daryl) of Shelby, Michael (Donita) Robison of Bellville, Joshua (Melissa) Stein of Mansfield, Matthew (Jamie) Kyser of Eau Claire, WI, Richard (fiancé Liz) Kyser of Winston-Salem, NC, and Sarah Stein Tingley (Tim) of Bellville. There are also 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Robison, in January of 2011.
