GALION: Elsie M. Lormor, 78, of 837 Briarwood, Galion, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at Olentangy Woods Nursing Center, Galion. Elsie suffered a stroke December 1, 2012.
She was born in Marion on December 29, 1933 to the late Grover and Goldie (Furr) White. She married Earl R. Lormor on July 23, 1989 and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1993.
Elsie has lived in Galion since 1972, having moved here from Fremont. She was member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Galion. Elsie worked in the office of Dr. R. Lee Hartman dental practice until his retirement in 1991. She then continued her position with Dr. Thomas G. Fellner, when he took over Dr. Hartman's practice in 1991. She worked at Dr. Fellner's office from 1991 until November 2007. Handling all aspects of the office, Elsie was a great bookkeeper. As the office manager, she took the office from paper to computerization and learned each new skill as needed. In retirement, Elsie kept active working at Drug Mart in Galion.
Elsie valued the time she spent with her sons and grandchildren. Her grandchildren loved their time spent with their Grandma, spending the night with her, even as teenagers. Elsie was always up for a challenge, whether it was riding a roller coaster or firing a pistol over her shoulder, "Annie Oakley" style. Elsie loved her pets and had eight dogs through her lifetime, including Cricket who survives her. She knitted and crocheted, giving her work as gifts to friends and family. A seven day cruise to Alaska was a gift Elsie always wanted to give her family. In 2007 that dream became reality when Elsie treated her whole family to a trip through the Inner Passage along the coastline of Canada.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Kimberly Finch of Warsaw, Indiana, and Lindsay and Joylyn Finch of Galion; her five grandchildren, Jennifer (Finch) and Justin Thomas, Allison Finch, Kristen Finch, Elaine Finch, and John Finch; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Thomas; her two brothers, Lewis White of Marion, and Thomas White of New Haven, Kentucky; and her sister, Virginia White of Galion.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean M. Boyce-Trachsel; and her brothers, Jack White, and Grover "Brother" White.
