MANSFIELD: Robert Delone Bowser went to be with our Lord and Savior Sunday, December 23, 2012 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was 83.
Bob was born May 13, 1929 in Markleysburg, PA to Edward and Bertha Bowser. He retired from Empire Detroit Steel in 1990 after 31 years as a crane operator.
Bob served his country in the Army Air Force in 1946 and 1947. In his younger years he pastored three churches and was also an Evangelist affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of God. His greatest concern and prayers were for his wife and family. Through the years he had many hobbies: he loved riding motorcycles with his wife, daughters and sons-in-law, and reading from his library of several hundred books
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha (Freeman) Bowser; his daughters Carolyn (Carl) Pendleton of Westerville, Cheryl (Rex) Goyer of Sycamore; grandchildren Carl "C.R." (Stephanie) Pendleton, Carrie (Jim) Clifford, Laura McGathey, and Robin McGathey; son-in-law Paul McGathey; seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way; four step-grandchildren; special niece Rosella Burd, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving daughter Faith McGathey on April 4, 2011; one brother; one sister, and eleven half siblings.
Friends may call Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday December 28, 2012. Pastor JC Church will officiate. Military honors will be performed by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail and Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
