MANSFIELD: Thelma Dean McAfee passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2013 after an extended illness. Thelma was born on May 19, 1917 to Inis and Ernest Ely in Mineral, OH. She married Wayne McAfee on June 23, 1934. They lived most of their life in the Mansfield area. She worked inspecting bomb fuses during World War II. After raising her children she worked as a seamstress for Vic's Cleaners. She had many hobbies: cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, and knitting, which she did until she lost her eye sight. She won blue ribbons for her quilts at the Ohio State Fair. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints. She was involved in many areas of the church.
Thelma is survived by six children, Jim (Mary) McAfee, Lecyll (Tom) Riley, Joann (Larry) Bridges, Gary (Pat) McAfee, Bob McAfee; and Michelle (Earnie) Mosier; 23 grandchildren; and many great and great great grandchildren. She also is survived by two brothers, Dale and Ivan Ely. Thelma's family always came first. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne; her parents; two brothers, Clyde and Dan; two sisters, Cleota and Freda; and a grandson, Bryan McAfee.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1951 Middle Bellville Rd., Mansfield. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in New Marshfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
