Esther Irene Duckworth

ONTARIO: Esther Irene Duckworth, age 81, passed away early Friday morning, February 1, 2013 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby after an extended illness. Born August 12, 1931, in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Jesse O. and Mabel (Fox) Vermillion. Esther was the owner of Duckworth's Ceramics and enjoyed sewing, quilting and painting her ceramics. She had attended Main Street United Methodist Church and always helped with their Bible School. An outdoor woman, she enjoyed camping with her family. Esther was the strength in her family and she treasured the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Cecelia) Duckworth of Ontario and Jerry (Paula) Duckworth of Port St. Lucie, FL; a daughter, Linda Fife of Ontario; eight grandchildren, Vincent (Laura) Duckworth of Holland, MI, Anthony (Lisa) Duckworth of Lexington, OH, Dr. Renee' Duckworth of Tucson, AZ, Jennifer (Dan) Stankiewicz of Medina, Jeremy (Lori) Duckworth of Davenport, FL, Joe (Sandra) Mullins of De Lutte, Netherlands, Michael (Lisa) Mullins of Ontario and Bryan (Tricia) Mullins of Fredericktown, OH; fourteen great-grandchildren; five siblings, Loretta Norris of Ontario, Nelson Vermillion of Shelby, Jean (Lester) Kokes of Clearwater, FL, Jack (Barb) Vermillion of Ontario and Ann (Fritz) Horton of Mansfield; close friend, Mae Titschinger of Galion; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Wilson Duckworth in 1987; son, John Duckworth in 1985; and brother, Alfred Vermillion.
Friends and family may visit from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
