MANSFIELD: Ernest C. Clark, 60, of Ashland, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013, at MedCentral Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Ernest was born on August 21, 1952, in Mansfield, to James and Thelma Collinsworth Clark. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from MANCI, after working many years as a corrections officer. He was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns, and enjoyed Harley Davidsons and gardening. The highlight of his life was his three daughters and his grandchildren, and watching them at their sporting events.
Along with his mother, Thelma Clark of Mansfield, he is survived by three daughters, Dana Patton, Maureen Bell, and Jessica Taylor all of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Ashleah Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, and Luke Bell; four siblings, James W. (Rebecca) Clark of Aransas, TX, Constance (William ) Ruhl of Bellville, Timothy (Shirley) Clark of Huron, and Mark (Tabitha) Clark of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Virginia Clark of Crestline; his ex-wife and best friend, Donna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Clark; one brother, Jerry Clark, Sr; one sister, Rosetta Pitts; and three infant siblings.
Calling hours will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Memorial services will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Dallas Waggle officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
