Forrest E. Keller

MANSFIELD: Forrest E. Keller, 94, of 3562 Cookton Grange Rd., Mansfield, died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Shelby Pointe, Shelby.

Mr. Keller was born in Crestline on September 19, 1918 to the late John and Caroline (Roth) Keller. He married Corrine F. Nesbitt on August 7, 1941 and she preceded him on May 13, 2009.

He was employed by Mansfield Tire for 37 years as a Foreman and retired in 1973. Mr. Keller was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received a purple heart, bronze star, and was a gold star recipient. He loved to travel, plant trees and was the former owner of Keller's Orchard. A member of Mid- Ohio Pony Club, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Keller spent 17 winters in Florida and was a song leader at the nursing home.

He is survived by his daughter: Corrine & Leroy Freel, Mansfield and his son Forrest and Barbara Keller, Mansfield, his four grandchildren: Mark and Cheryl Ritchie, Stephanie and Fred Barabani, Rick and Dee Freel, Ronald and Gabbe Freel, his three great-grandchildren: Justin Freel, Ashley and Brian Baker, Logan Freel, his four great-great-grandchildren: Savannah Freel, Devon Freel, Nathan Baker, Kylie Baker and his three step great-grandchildren: Jacob Barabani, Caleb Barabani and Olivia Ritchie.

He was preceded in death by his four brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call Monday, March 11, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline with full military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the Crestline/Galion Veterans Organizations.
