Jack Duane Byrd

DELTONA, FL: Jack Duane Byrd of Deltona, FL, age 84, passed away at his home on March 2, 2013 after a long illness due to suffering a heart attack and stroke 14 years ago. Jack was born June 25, 1928 in Haywood, WV, the son of the late Bert Everett and Amanda "Pearl" (Bryant) Byrd.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Pauline Mae (Smith); children, Lorna Jean (Robert) Wingenbach of Sanford FL and Kevin Duane (Maria) Byrd of Plano, TX; five grandchildren, Jason Robert (Shelisa) Wingenbach of Gainesville, FL, Kelli Elizabeth (ilan) Ginga of Oviedo, FL, Hailey Elizabeth Byrd, Natalie Christine Byrd and Jarrod Michael Byrd of Plano, TX; three great-grandchildren, Chloe Rae Wingenbach, Delaney Reese Wingenbach and Lacee Shai Ginga; brother Marvin Eugene Byrd of Bellville, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son Jack Duane Byrd Jr. and sister Eunadell (Byrd) Moore.

He was the successful owner of Byrd's Nest Tavern in Mansfield, OH for 16 years and Telephone Service & Sales in Deltona, FL for 19 years. Previously, Jack was a tool and die expeditor and quality control manager for several manufacturing companies. He also served 2 years in the U.S. Navy, from 1946 to 1948, serving as a fireman on two minesweepers in the Pacific.

Jack was a Master Mason of Lodge 35 in Mansfield, OH and a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

At the family's request, there will be no services or flowers.
