Harland Mowry, Jr.

BELLVILLE: Harland Mowry, Jr., knew that there is nothing in the world as irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor. Always lightening the mood, Harland had the natural ability of making people laugh. The countless memories of Harland's laughter and smile will carry on.

On Monday morning, March 11, 2013, Harland Mowry, Jr., passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Harland was born March 3, 1952 in Mansfield to Harland and Nina (Farst) Mowry, and graduated from Clear Fork High School.

Harland worked as salesman and motorcoach driver for S&S Coach and recently was salesman for Cardinal Bus Sales.

To Harland, life was all about the experience. He loved vacationing in Cancun and taking memorable casino trips. Harland could just as well have a great time camping locally with family and friends at Lake Maria. He also loved his two very special chihuahua's Weigh Weigh and Evi.

He was a member of the Bellville Masonic Lodge #376, AmVets Post #43, VFW Post 8586, and Bellville American Legion Post #535.

He is survived by his loving wife Sheila D. (Bowman) Mowry of Bellville; two sisters Carolyn (Kelson) Dearth and Nora (Dan) Jackson both of Bellville; brothers Robert (Connie) Mowry, Gerald (Pam) Mowry all of Bellville, and Andrew (Sally) Mowry of Powell; half-brother Gary (Patti) Walker of Douglasville, PA; special niece Penny Lacy, several nieces, nephews, many wonderful friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Mowry, brothers-in-law David W. Bowman, William "Tom" Burson, and Jerry Black.

The Bellville Snyder Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Services celebrating the life of Harland Mowry Jr. will be held Thursday March 14, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. in the Bellville American Legion Post #535, 77 Bell Street, Bellville.
