Walter Carl Blankenship

MANSFIELD: Walter Carl Blankenship , 77, of Mansfield, died Monday, April 8, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born June 20, 1935 in Swords Creek, VA, he was the son of Walter McKinley and Bessie Jane (Whitt) Blankenship. Walter was a veteran of the U.S. Army and owned and operated Walt's TV. He loved watching all sports and especially loved fishing and golfing. Walter could even be seen mowing the grass at Coolridge Golf Course. Most of all, he adored his grandchildren.

Walter is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frances Blankenship of Mansfield; daughters, Lisa (Craig) Letang and Marie (Hobie) Prince, both of Mansfield and Amy (Mark) Jones of Huron; grandchildren, Adam Letang, Hollie Cole, Katie Osborne, Ashley Elber, Heather Elber, and Ian Prince; great grandchildren, Chase, Christian, and Cowen Cole and Jonathan Senko; brothers and sisters, Darlious Bandy of Shelby, Bob (Louise) Blankenship of Richmond, VA, Jay Blankenship and Margaret Brown, both of Mansfield, and Doris Houchins of Richlands, VA; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and Connie Milligan of Upper Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Mary Whitcomb, Judy Milligan, John Blankenship, and Buford Blankenship.

There will be no calling hours or services held. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Walter Blankenship.
