Dan Joseph Schuller
The Guest Book is expired.
MANSFIELD: Dan Schuller was a thinker. He was always thinking. Whether it was a business venture, an adventure or new project, his mind was always working. He'd look at a rusted piece of junk, and think through sandblasting it, rebuilding it and rejuvenating it. Once he had shown one of his restored cars, Dan was thinking how he could sell it and move on to his next project.
Dan thought first of his family - and would do anything for them - their provision and happiness were most important to him.
Remembered for his humor, a few smooth dance moves, and passion for his wife and family, Dan passed away Tuesday morning April 23, 2013 from injuries of a motorcycle accident in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was 51.
Born November 21, 1961 in Dubuque, Iowa, he was graduated from Hempstead High School in Dubuque. He served with the U.S. Air Force at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado, was stationed in Grand Forks, ND, and earned his Associates Degree in Technical Writing.
He put his "thinking mind" to good use as a government technical writer, most recently working with Advanced Communication Technologies.
Dan loved toys. He was raised near the Mississippi, so anything with a motor, that worked in the water, was like a magnet to him. He had boats, jet skis, and even some water toys that defy description. On land, he had a penchant for convertibles, campers and motorbikes. Where ever Dan traveled, he seemed to find some new piece of equipment he just had to have.
Dan was so very likeable - even when he was stubborn about always being right. And he dearly loved to be home with his family and Miniature Toy Schnauzers Lilly and Lucy, they all put a smile on his face.
He is survived by his wife Anita (Meeks) Schuller, whom he married May 19, 1987; daughter April Schuller of New York City, son Austin Schuller of Bellville, daughter and son-in-law Allison & Beau Baker of Bellville, daughter Allisa Schuller; his mother Wilma (Schroeder) Schuller of Dubuque, IA; sisters Londa Smelser in Wisconsin, Linda Schuller in Iowa, Lisa Glase in Australia, Lori Schuller in Florida; a brother Jeff Schuller in Iowa; his lifelong best friend Carl Fraser of Lancaster, PA; and two "daughters" he was crazy about Elizabeth Staab and Bailey Winand.
He was preceded in death by his father William "Bill" Schuller; a son Luke Schuller and a brother Greg Schuller.
The Schuller family will receive friends Friday, April 26, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Patrick Bailey will speak. Contributions in his memory to a fund for his daughter Allisa's college education (please make check payable to Anita Schuller) may be made at the funeral home.
