MARION: Katherine P. "Phiz" Hetler Hoff, 78, of Marion, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Partners of Marion Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born December 29, 1934 in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Joseph R. and Katherine Julianna (Stirtzinger) Hetler. She retired from MedCentral Hospital where she worked as a Nurse's Aid and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marion and St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Carolina where she served as a teacher's aide. She was named Catholic Woman of the Year in South Carolina and she and her husband Joe helped serve meals for Habitat for Humanity and assisted with meals both at church and those needing assistance. She was active with Prayer Groups for special occasions in her home and was known for her chicken soup and Goulash.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Carrie Hollister of South Carolina; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Charles May of Marion and Katherine and James Marshall of Mansfield; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Anne Robertson and Betty Lou Miller both of Mansfield; and several nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hoff on January 10, 2010; two sisters, Wilma Hafner and Helen Gimble; and a brother, Joseph Hetler.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield where a Vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 104 West 1st Street, Mansfield celebrated by Father Gregory Hite. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.
