Richard W. Parsons Jr.
VERMILION: Richard W. Parsons Jr. 85, of Vermilion, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Hospice of Western Reserve, Westlake after a lengthy illness.
Richard was born January 6, 1928 in Mansfield, Ohio. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School- Class of 1947 where he was known as "Itch". He was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office, Mansfield. He was a member of the Mansfield Choral Society and Grace United Methodist Church in Vermilion.
He enjoyed creating with stained glass, traveling, camping, singing in the church choir and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn (nee Hazen) Parsons of Vermilion; son, Bradley Parsons of Lakewood; two daughters, Laura (Gerald) Federinko of Oberlin, and Iva (Bill) Turnbull of Wakeman; a sister, Anne Radojcsics of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren, Shannon (Toby) Viets, Elisabeth Parsons, and Kenyon Parsons; three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard W. Sr. and Iva Ruth Parsons.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 7th from 4-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, Coen and West Lake Road on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following the memorial service. A private interment will be at Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, Ohio at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice of the Western Reserve Contributions, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110-9915.
