CRESTLINE: Carl G. Hoffer, 80, formerly of Crestline, passed away quietly in his sleep on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Heartland of Zephyrhills, Zephyrhills, FL.
Carl was born in Leesville, on August 26, 1933 to the late Frederick C. and Helen (Grubaugh) Hoffer. He married Karol Ann Miller on April 4, 1953 and she survives him.
Carl was a 1951 graduate of Crestline High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in an armored division as a tank driver. Carl was retired from North Electric/ITT as a supervisor and also was a former Crestline Auxiliary Policeman. He enjoyed fishing, camping and tinkering with electronics and woodworking. Carl loved old western movies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons and one daughter; Steven and Stephanie Hoffer of Johnsville, Randy and Ceilann Hoffer of Galion, Cynthia and Dick Crossman, Wesley Chapel, FL, Craig Hoffer, Crestline, ten grandchildren; Aaron and Tammi Hoffer, Valerie Hiles, Drew Hoffer, Lauren Hoffer, Carrie and Jason Gough, Kelly Hoffer, Katie Hoffer, Jessica and William Robinson, Nicole Collins, Jacob Collins, thirteen great-grandchildren, two brothers; Charles Hoffer, Bellville, Dale and Sandy Hoffer, Crestline, and one sister, Ellen Troutman, Blackshear, GA.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Hoffer.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline where full military honors will be given at the graveside by the U.S. Army and the Crestline/Galion veterans organizations.
