May Higgins Obituary

May Virginia Higgins

MANSFIELD: May Virginia Higgins passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 in Columbus at James Cancer Hospital surrounded by her immediate family. She was 49.

She was born December 17, 1965 to parents Earl K. Lashley and Sandra (West) Borstad in Seymour, Indiana. May was a nurse's aid at Winchester Terrace and a home health aid for several years. She had a true passion for nursing and a goal of becoming a registered nurse until she was no longer able due to injury. After her injury she worked for the Mansfield City School system in the bus garage. She truly enjoyed the company of all the students.

On September 16, 1994, she married Keith Higgins and together they spent 20 wonderful years together. Keith and May spent time fishing and camping together at Charles Mills Lake in Mifflin. She also took pleasure in listening to classic rock and attending concerts.

Above all May truly took pride in her two son's accomplishments, both graduating from college and one a military veteran. In her last two weeks she was able to see her youngest son get married and spend time with her grandchildren, which meant the world to her.

She is survived by her loving husband Keith Higgins; children, Brian (Nicole) Lashley, Daniel (Latisha) Lashley, and Nichole Sponseller; grandchildren, Lincoln and Loralai Lashley and Nathan and Noel Sponseller; her mother, Sandra Borstad; siblings, Mary Lamb-Borstad, Mickey Borstad, Michael Borstad, and Sandra Stephens.

May was preceded in death by her father, Earl K. Lashley.

Services for May will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home at 2 pm with a hour prior of calling from 1-2 pm. Pastor Herman Copley with officiate with burial to follow at Mansfield Cemetery.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember May fondly. My mom (Rosemary Yates) and her used to hang out some time ago while living in Canton.
