Glenn C. Hollinger

MANSFIELD: Glenn C. Hollinger, 83, of Mansfield, went to his heavenly home on Easter Sunday morning, April 5, 2015.

Born May 6, 1931, at home in Mansfield, he was the son of George A. and Edna (Bonin) Hollinger.

On July 16, 1961, he married the love of his life, Rosella D. (Berry) Hollinger, and they spent 53 blessed years together.

A U.S. Army Veteran, he served as a Corporal in the Korean War. He worked as an inspector for the Tappan Co. until the plant closed and he had to retire after 37 years.

Glenn was a lifelong member and trustee of Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church and later attended Little Washington Congregational Church.

An elephant collector, he was an artist, baker and cook, loved morel mushroom hunting with his family.

He is survived by five children, Cher (Jim) Cox of Lucas, Rev. Michael (Debbie) Hollinger of Galloway, Elaine (Cemal) Yildiz of Lake Villa, IL, Shirley (John) Dowdy of Mansfield, and Brian Hollinger of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Derek, Jamie, Rachel, Lauren, Courtney, Bradley, Andrea, and Ashley; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Johnson and brother, George A. Hollinger.

Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the funeral home, with Pastor James Berry officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, with full military honors being performed by the RCJVBD.

A special thank you from his children to his caregivers, Nora "Cookie" Kron, Joyce Queer, Victoria Rose, Alona Morley, Cindy Rush, Paul Hollinger, Shirley Barry, Geri Parsons and MedCentral Hospice.
