Audrey Lurline Simmons(1916 - 2014)

Audrey Lurline Simmons Age 98, of Terra Linda, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 11, 2014 following a short illness. She was born March 14, 1916 in Jacksonville, Florida and was the oldest of three daughters born to W. G. and Minnie Womble. After WWII Audrey moved to southern California where she met Kenneth Irving Simmons. They married in 1947 and shortly after moved to San Francisco, finally settling in Terra Linda in 1955. Audrey was a founding member and former president of the Widowed Persons Association of California, Chapter 11. She was also active with the County of Marin retirees and spent many years working with the Civic Center Volunteers. Audrey enjoyed bocce ball and played with the San Rafael Goldenaires. She also played bingo with the Terra Linda Senior Center members. She is preceded in death by husband Kenneth Simmons and sister Katherine Lauriano. She is survived by her youngest sister Ruth Poston of Benson, Arizona, two daughters, Deborah Lynne Kespert of Randolph, Massachusetts and Jennifer K. Simmons of Terra Linda, California, two grand-daughters, Monica Bianchi of Linden, California and Keala Simmons-Asuncion of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren. No memorial service will be held at her request. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice By The Bay or Doctors Without Borders.
