Charles Hunter

Charles Hunter 1919-2013 Charlie passed away on November 27, 2013 after a full life of 94 years. A retired bank manager, avid golfer, new bocce ball player and eager reader on many topics, he enjoyed every activity he undertook and every friend, old and new, that he had. Raised in Watsonville, CA, Charlie met Bobbie, his wife of 63 years, while attending San Jose State College. They married as soon as Charlie got out of the army at the end of World War II, and raised their family in Mill Valley. He is survived by daughter Gayle, son Don, and daughter-in-law Susan, grandsons Donovan and Dillon, and grand daughter-in-law Melissa. They will all miss his smile, witty conversation, and love. Charlie was drafted at the age of 22 and served in the pacific theater during the second world war. He was stationed on Hawaii, Canton Island, Iwa Jima, and Okinawa. He was discharged four years later with the rank of Master Sergeant. Upon retirement, Charlie and his wife moved to Napa, where Charlie became an active member of the Napa Valley Country Club and Covenant Presbyterian Church. Golf was a big part of Charlie's life. He hosted many golf outings at his beloved Graeagle and his friends always looked forward to the invitation. Whether on the golf course or at church once Charlie met you you were his friend. He will be missed by the many friends he had in these organizations. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on December 21st at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1226 Salvador Ave., Napa., followed by a reception at the Napa Valley Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Convenant Presbyterian Church or Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael.
