Dennis Ewart Turrentine

Dennis Ewart Turrentine Known as "Denny", died on Monday evening, November 5, 2012. He was 65. Denny was born at the Cottage Hospital in San Rafael. He attended Laurel Dell and West End Elementary, Davidson Jr. High and graduated from San Rafael High School. He attended San Francisco Community College and then majored in Political Science at San Francisco State. Denny, who had cerebral palsy and epilepsy, loved to debate any topic but especially politics and education. His many strong opinions included adamant opposition to the death penalty. In recent years, he suffered from three major strokes that limited his mobility and communication. He became a resident at the Rafael Convalescent Hospital, whose staff gave him patient and loving care. He became famous for telling all of the female residents and staff that they were beautiful. Denny was predeceased by his father, Dan Turrentine. He is survived by his devoted mother, Barbara Turrentine, his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Pat Turrentine, and five much-loved nephews, Matt (and his wife Erin), Don (and his wife Emma), Peter, Joe and John. He is also survived by four grand-nephews who gave him much delight: Mark, Eddie, Abel and Simon. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Sunday, December 23 at 2:30 PM at St. Sebastian Church, Greenbrae.
