Don Olson Passed away on Saturday October 5, 2013 at the age of 85. He is survived by his daughters Laurie Olson and Lisa Olson, both of Novato. His beloved wife of 48 years preceded him in death seven years ago. His daughters are the beneficiaries of their parents' legacy of love and abundance. Don was born in San Francisco where he spent his early youth until the family moved to the Peninsula where he graduated from Sequoia Union High School. He joined the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War
. He earned a degree in psychology from San Jose State University. His career as a probation officer in the Marin County juvenile probation department brought him into contact with Mary Brown, a social worker. They married after a brief courtship and their marriage became the foundation of both their lives. Don ultimately became a supervisor in adult probation and retired after 25 years with the county. He took the time to enjoy a part-time career in acting - both in theatre productions and television, as well as occasionally appearing in print ads. He was a sports car enthusiast, a great bocce ball player, and he had a great appreciation for the outdoors. Don loved laughter; his sense of humor and quick wit will be missed. In the last few years of his life, Don spent almost every Sunday afternoon with his daughters. Laurie and Lisa are deeply saddened by his absence. His life will be celebrated with friends and family. In keeping with his love of the Marin outdoors, donations may be made to Marin Agricultural Land Trust.
