Donna Feigum Nichols

Donna Feigum Nichols Age 81, of Terra Linda, passed away on November 14th, in her home with her family present. Born in Minneapolis, MN, she received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she and a friend drove to San Francisco. There, Donna worked in the field of public relations, and also as an editor and food writer. She married Nicholas H. Nichols in 1956 and they had two children. The family moved to Ann Arbor, MI, where husband Nicholas completed his graduate studies at the University of Michigan. While there, Donna worked at the Ann Arbor Natural History Museum, and the Economics Department. Her family returned to California in 1970 and settled in Terra Linda. She worked there as a newspaper columnist. She was a member of the Terra Linda Homeowner's Association, an officer of Marin Home and Garden Club, and was active in helping to preserve open space in Marin. Donna was a gourmet cook and her baking recipes are still being circulated. She was a gardener extraordinaire and a life-long collector of contemporary ceramics. Donna was survived by her husband of 56 years, Nicholas H. Nichols, Ph.D. She will be fondly remembered by her children Diane Alise and Theodore Nicholas Nichols, and her nieces Linda Blommer and Pam Mellema and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Ella and Elmer, and her siblings, Harold and Eleanor (Snooky). In whatever endeavor Donna participated, she held herself to high standards, and encouraged others to do their best. She impressed all around her with her strength, positive attitude, and extraordinary ability to long survive a terminal illness. She very much appreciated the special care and love of her family over the years that she was not well. Donna never "blew her own horn" perhaps she will not mind our having played a note or two for her.
