Baron Francesco M. Pitera

Baron Francesco M. Pitera Francesco M. Pitera, 77, of Belvedere California, died peacefully at his home on February 7, 2013 after an eleven month illness. He was born to the late Ferdinando and Corinna Pitera, May 5, 1935, in the seaside town of Gaeta, Italy. He grew up in Rome during World War II where, as a nine year old boy, he survived the Battle of Monte Cassino. As a young man he worked in the Italian film industry as a Director. In the early 1960's, he was transferred to the United States by the Italian news station, RAI, and soon after decided to make America his home. After his immigration he was a camera man for the ABC network and other local Bay Area stations. He made southern Marin his home for over 40 years. Francesco was a true Italian. He loved good food, beautiful cars, history, boats and animals. He will be lovingly remembered by his life partner Carolina Schorr and many friends as a gracious, fun loving, and optimistic man who lived life to the fullest and was always ready to cook a plate of pasta and share a bottle of wine with friends. He is survived by his sister, Annamaria Pitera of Rome, Italy, and "his angel", the love of his life, Carolina Schorr of Mill Valley, Ca. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Brain Injury Network of the Bay Area.
