Gertrud "Trudi" Mancia

Gertrud "Trudi" Mancia Gertrud passed away on November 18, 2012, at her Mill Valley home surrounded by family and friends. She was 87. Born on January 23, 1925, in Basel, Switzerland, Trudi was one of four children to Emil and Rosa Wamister Trudi was a governess for the children of a United States diplomat stationed in England in the 1950's. She immigrated to Colorado in her late twenties where she married Clorimondo Mancia in 1956. They moved to Marin in 1958. Well known for her smile, kindness and love of all life, Trudi was a champion for the environment, peace, family and all of the things that make the world a better place. Trudi was the best grandma to Stella Rose Mares, always creating innovative games and sharing her affinity for nature, the ocean and books. Trudi's love of literature, the arts, traveling and hiking enriched all of our lives. She was acknowledged for her services volunteering at the Marine Mammal Center. With a sparkle in her eyes and a wicked sense of humor to the very end, Trudi was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be forever in our hearts. Trudi leaves behind her husband Clorimondo Mancia; son Francesco Mancia and his wife Barbara; daughter Pia Mancia and her husband Daniel Mares; granddaughter Stella Rose Mares; nephew Frank Mancia; sister-in-law Quinta Bova; nieces Leonora Bova and Carla Bova; and friends and family in Switzerland and Italy.
