Harry Martin Anderson

Harry Martin Anderson Harry passed away October 19, 2013, in his home of 37 years in San Rafael, aged 90. His son Martin was with him. He was born to Emil and Louise (ne‚ Bienz) Anderson on March 3, 1923 in Kalispel, Montana, the second of four children. He earned a Bachelor's degree at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago before serving on the submarine USS Perch II in the Pacific during WWII. After the war he moved to California and joined Chevron as a chemical engineer, where he worked for nearly 40 years before retiring in 1985. He married Betty Anderson (ne‚ Ackerman) in 1951 and they lived in Livermore before moving to Orinda in 1952 where they lived until they divorced in 1965. He had two sons from that marriage, Martin and Jeff Anderson. In 1973 he married Katharine Danse (ne‚ Flammer), and moved to San Rafael in 1976 where they lived ever since, celebrating their 40th anniversary in July 2013. Harry's great loves in life were family, golf, and Montana. He vacationed at a family cabin on Lake Flathead in Montana every summer where his brother Arthur and sister Louise lived. His sister Ruth also vacationed there every summer. Arthur and Louise passed before him. He is survived by his wife Katharine, his sister Ruth, his two sons, Martin and Jeff Anderson, six nephews and nieces, and three stepsons, James, Richard, and Ted Danse. Harry had an extensive network of friends and family he kept contact with by computer and was well loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all who cannot believe he is gone.
