Secundo Pasquale Miravalle

Secundo "Cy" Pasquale Miravalle 1928-2013 Secundo Miravalle, known by family and friends as Cy, passed away, peacefully and surrounded by family members, on Friday, May 3, 2013 after a brief hospital stay to treat a heart condition. A pillar in the North Beach community during its formative years, Cy owned and operated with his cousins, the Gloria Sausage Company right in the heart of San Francisco's Italian district. In 1984, Cy opened Prima Sausage Company with his wife Kenna, his son Marc and his daughter Lisa. Prima continues to be regarded for the sausages, char-cuterie and artisan cheese it provides to area restaurants, hotels and delis. Cy was born May 21, 1928 in North Beach and went to school in San Francisco at Galileo High School. In 1995, Cy's first wife and loving companion, Kenna, passed away after more than three decades of marriage. A few years later, he was fortunate to meet and marry a wonderful woman, Nancy Battaglia, who he was married to for 12 years until her passing. Though never completely retired, Cy did take time in recent years to spend more time with family. It was not uncommon to find Cy surrounded by his family and friends outside on a warm evening enjoying conversation and home cooked food while playing and chatting with his grandchildren. The highlight of the week for Cy was attending weekend sporting events in which he could cheer for his grandchildren. Cy is survived by his daughter, Tisha Hull and her husband Jeff; his son, Marc Miravalle and his wife Sharon; his daughter, Lisa Rodriguez and her husband Rick; and grandchildren Dustin, Nikki, Danielle, Jason, Julia and Riley. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, May 11th, at Mount Tamalpais Mortuary Chapel, 2500 Fifth Ave., San Rafael. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Cy Miravalle to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
