I met Bill back in 1994, but only for a brief time and space in my life. I was going through a major break up and his kindness and genuineness as a human being was refreshing. He was one of those people that you meet that you always keep in your memory as someone that you would like to run into again at some point in your life and catch up. I knew he was a talented drummer and that he was working with his band to develop a name and I remember them starting with the name Combine and then moving over to Cola. I wanted to see them play at the Bottom of the Hill, but at the time he had broken his tibia and fibula and was at home healing. I was happy to read about all of his accomplishments, and that he got to have a career that involved, what he loved: music. My deepest condolences to his wife and son and his many friends and colleagues.

“Hug Your Family”
Those 3 meaningful words Jena wrote to me today when bearing the tragic details of Bill's passing will never be forgotten.
I only knew Jena's husband through the stories and pictures she shared with me through email and their 2012 Holiday video. I am grateful for knowing this beautiful family and hope they find peace and strength in the memories that will live on forever.
Jena, please know you and Teige are in my thoughts and prayers.

I just heard the news from my mom. I grew up in the neighborhood with Bill. He was a few years older than me, but I spent many summers at the neighborhood pool with him.

Jena, and all of Bill's family and friends, I am so sorry. It's hard to even fathom. My heart goes out to all of you. What stood out most about Bill was his laugh, the twinkle in his eye, and his obvious and genuine interest in the people around him. Oh, Jena. My deepest condolences to you, Teige, and the whole family. I only knew him for a brief time, but he really was one of the good ones, and someone who could light up a room with that smile and that presence. Sending all of my love along with the hope that you and Teige are getting the support you need. He was a wonderful person, and you two were lucky to find one another. Dear Jena and Teige
Today was the day that Bill and I were to meet and discuss a design project. As you know, I got to know Bill only last year and right away we hit it off. I held Bill in very esteem both as a talented designer as well as a friend with whome I could freely discuss graphic design, education, music, musicians from the Bay area (and he knew many well known performers) and life. My sympathy and love goes out to Jena & Teige and the extended Shore & Fry families. Although Bill's passing is a very difficult time for his relatives and friends, it was evident from Bill's Celebration of Life how much he was respected and loved by those he touched during his short life.
A fitting Irish headstone reads: "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

I am so very saddened by this news. Bill was an amazing person. His greatest joy was making other people happy. This planet will not be the same without beautiful Bill. RIP my lovely friend.

It's has been many many years since I have seen or spoken with Bill, but I don't think a day has gone by in all these years that I haven't had him and the group of friends from back then and his family in my thoughts. Always wondering what everyone is up to and how they are doing. Such great memories and an important time in my life. My heart is broken for his entire family and all the people that were lucky enough to have their lives touched by Bill.

I had the privilege of going to high school with Bill...and will always cherish the last conversation I had with him at our high school reunion in September. Bill Shore, always cool, unassuming, smart and warm. The world has lost one of the good ones. My heart breaks for his family. I am so sorry you all have to endure such a tremendous loss.

Bill was a great friend, sensitive, caring and very funny. I've stolen some of his funniest comments that I still use to this day. He seemed to be always positive, and although we drifted apart a bit, when we did see each other it was as if no time had passed at all. The world will miss him.

I am so sorry to hear about Bill. I haven't spoken with Bill in ages, but our bands used to play together often long ago. He was a just great bloke and someone I knew would live a good life. I moved to San Rafael as an 18 year old boy from the UK, and spent much time in my first year or two lonely and confused. Bill Shore stood head and shoulders above the great majority of my friends and acquaintances with regard to his depth of compassion, sensitivity and kindness - all while maintaining the requisite degree of 'cool' aspired to by all young people. He inspired me over the last two decades to aspire to the same level of empathy toward others I might meet.
Though we lost touch, I frequently thought of him, of his words, phrases, smile, his ability as a musician and ultimately, his compassion for humanity and for living. Though our friendship was brief and long ago, I am deeply saddened to hear this news. I can only imagine the pain those closer to Bill are feeling, and my greatest commiserations go to all of you. You should be extremely proud to have been part of Bill's life.
