DAVID YOUNG Obituary

David Gerald Young David Gerald Young, age 92, died peacefully at his home in San Rafael, CA on Sat. Dec. 18, 2010, of natural causes. He was born on May 19, 1918 in Sausalito, California to Thomas Young and Emma Julia Laederich Young. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served proudly in World War II. While being stationed in Kansas City, MO, he met Marguerite Lyon and married her in 1944. He started his long Grocery Meat Cutter career working in his parent's meat market on Princess St. in Sausalito. David was a Past Commander of V.F.W. Post 72, was a member of The Marin Rod and Gun Club, enjoyed camping and fishing, was an avid bridge player with The San Rafael Goldenaires. David is survived by his son, Gerald N. Young and wife Tami of San Jose, daughter Marsha, granddaughter Sherry, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Lyon Young; brother Allyn Thomas Young; and sisters Louise Graefe and Helen Nightingale. Memorial services will be held at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, 2500 5th Avenue, San Rafael, at 1:00 on Sunday, January 9th, 2011. Please join us for a pot luck at his home after the service.

I came across Mr Young´s name while visiting the caves of Valkenburg NL. He was in the same cave in 1944 when it was used as field hospital by the US army.
