I taught Matt and Cathy as two of my “Tiny Tots” at Novato Parks and Recreation. I watched them grow up at OLOL and in our community programs with their loving parents. Matt grew to be a wonderful young man. He and all his family are in my prayers now as I remember that wonderful “cherub faced” little fellow. May God hold him and comfort him and may God comfort us all.

We continue to have heavy hearts as we think of Matt and your family's loss. I find myself looking for Matt's smile at Pacific Athletic Club and then stop myself and remember fondly the fun we had together. Our trip to Pine Mountain Lake often comes to mind, where he taught Hilary to throw and catch. She still treasures and wears the pajamas you gave her on that trip so many years ago Christie.
We can only imagine the hole you feel in your hearts and we hope that passing of each day eases your pain gradually. You are loved and supported by so many and I volunteer, along with so many others, to help you in anyway I can. My experience with loss may be of use at this time, please let me know if I can do anything.

I can still clearly remember when Matt, Ryan and Melissa had lunch with us at station 31 a few years ago. I will never forget Melissa's expression as she tried to shove a huge red grape into her tiny little mouth. She succeeded, time and time again! I will also never forget the time you were so proud of Matt as you showed off pictures of him rescuing a man who had fallen into the Bay. I did not know Matt very well but I am glad to have met him and I am glad to have heard so many stories about him from you. I was so sorry to hear about Matt's passing. I worked with him at Perry's Deli in Petaluma and he escorted me to my senior prom. I fondly remember the fights we used to have at work because of that darn country music he always wanted to listen too! Your father was so special! It amazed me that he was always a consistently gentle person too, for someone so big and strong!
He put people at ease, and made them feel comfortable - I always admired that in him, being a police officer. I know he had more good impact on people than anyone will ever know. People everywhere!
You had him for such a short time - I am so sorry for that. All I can say is look up to your heavenly Father, who loves you and who will always care for you and your mom, as He cares for your dad now.
My father died in a car accident, before I was born. Through the years, I remind myself that my father is with Him too, and God will never forget any of His children. Life is forever. So everyone of us WILL meet again, in a place where there will never be anymore tears. Your dad is with Grandma- someday, everyone will be reunited again, and for always.

Doug and family. I will never forget Matt. I first met him when he was still in high school. He and some friends had gone into the city and some of the others had been drinking and Matt did not want to get back in the car with them to drive home so he stopped by the firehouse. He told us who he was and what had happened and that his dad told him if he was ever in trouble to stop at any firehouse to get some help. We got him a bed for the night and the next morning i gave him a ride home. His actions that night showed me what a great job you did in raising him and instilling him with the tools to dddmake the right decision. I will miss him as will many others. Im so sorry his life was so short but always look at what he did with the short amount of time with us . He touched a lot of lives and made them so much better for being with us.
