Alvin Silva, of Novato, known to family and friends as "Al", died on November 19th, 2005 from injuries and complications sustained in a fall. He was 75. Al was the son of the late Vasco and Anna Silva. He grew up in San Francisco and moved to Novato in 1957. Al worked several years in the fiberglass industry but changed careers in 1967 and began working for PG&E as a senior map draftsman in San Francisco, Vallejo, Napa, and San Rafael.
Al is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn; his son, Terry Silva (wife Jeannie); daughter, Denise Silva Fedrick (husband Dee); and grandchildren, Alison, Barry, Adrienne, Paul, and Aileen. He was predeceased by his brother Vince and sisters, Verna and Annette.
Al enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events, and many years of outdoor activities including salmon fishing in his boat. He loved to dance as well. He was a member of Native Sons of the Golden West, Nicasio Parlor.
A Vigil will be held at Keaton's Redwood Chapel, 1801 Novato Blvd., Novato, on November 27th, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Church, 1000 Cambridge Street, Novato, on November 28th, 2005 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice of Petaluma or Helping Hands at St. Anthony Church, Novato.
