Kent School in Kentfield. He was in the first class to attend all four years at Sir Francis Drake High School, graduating in 1955. In high school David was an accomplished trumpet player, playing in many of the school's bands. At this time, he also began his life long interest in rebuilding old cars, culminating in his favorite truck "Big Blue", a 1954 Chevy duel axel dump truck. David attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in Berkeley and the Art Center School in Los Angeles and then returned to Marin County to work with his father as a freelance artist in San Francisco. David became interested in boat building, creating his own 'cracker box' wooden motorboat with an Olds V8 motor. Soon after, he began a career at the Sausalito boat yards becoming well known for his fine woodworking abilities. David worked for Forster Engineering for 18 years until finally starting his own woodworking business, focusing on his love of custom remodeling and fine furniture building. David's many accomplishments were recognized by publications in several magazines all of which praised his craftsmanship. David's works of art will be forever cherished. David married Judith Marian Duerson in 1962. Settling in the San Geronimo Valley, they dedicated themselves to a "back to the land" lifestyle. Together they raised two children, Susannah and John, and created a beautiful home full of sawdust, homegrown food, and loving memories. They were happily married for 39 years, until her death in 2001. David then married Sally Harris Frederickson and for 12 years they wood carved, biked, hiked, gardened, traveled, and loved. Together, they brightened the lives of their combined families and enjoyed membership with the San Geronimo Valley Presbyterian Church.
