ENID CHASANOFF Obituary

Enid Chasanoff A long-time Marin County resident, passed away peacefully September 11, 2010 at the age of 84 in her Greenbrae residence. Enid -- devoted mother to two, a loving grandma to three, and an amazing friendto many -- will always be remembered for her passion and enthusiasm for life. A long-time lover and creator of the arts, Enid's skilled work has been seen recently in fairs, parades, art galleries, and on the Internet. Her first foray into film (at 83 years old), a short movie titled "Leah and the Horse" (available on YouTube) received widespread acclaim and became "Official Selections" at the Women in Film Festival in Vancouver, B.C and the San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York Short Film Festivals. The dolls showcased in the movie later won "Best in Show" at the Marin County Fair in July of 2010. Enid was adored by her friends and family for her innate artistic ability, amazing energy, kind heart, and her endless optimism and encouragement. Enid was always up for anything --whether it was traveling the world, attending a new art class, parading through weekend garage sales, or partaking in anything involving her grandkids -- and always approached whatever was next in her storied life with such zeal and excitement. As she recently noted to local press over the success of "Leah and the Horse, "I've been given such a gift, I'm kind of available for anything. But when I die, I want people to say, 'That poor thing knocked herself out and had fun right to the end.'" Enid is survived by her children Lisa and Eric, her son-in-law Carl, and her grandchildren Matt, Ben, and Grant. A memorial service will be scheduled sometime in November.

To all of Enid Chasanoff's Friends and Family:
As you know, mom passed away peacefully watching the sun rise over Mt. Tam on Saturday, September 11th, 2010. Although she didn't want a funeral she would have loved her friends and family coming together one final time, to celebrate her life.
To that end, please join us on Sunday November 21st from 2-5 at the Marin Art and Garden Center on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Lagunitas Road in Ross.
If you would like the opportunity to say a few words then please let me know.
We look forward to seeing everyone that gave our mother's life meaning.
