Forrest-Ann Hill Buck Obituary
Forrest-Ann "Susie" Hill Buck Born in 1946 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Elsie Warren and Granison Jasper Hill. Susie passed away peacefully on March 10th from colon cancer. She was a loving soul to her two sons, her three grandchildren, her partner Peter Laird, and her many friends and family. Susie graduated from Ithaca College in New York, in 1968, and was licensed as a Physical Therapist in New York and California. Moving west to San Francisco in 1968, Susie met and married Stockton Buck and moved to Portland Oregon. The Bucks returned to Marin in the early 70's to start a family. Susie spent over 40 years as a practicing PT in the Bay Area, where she helped to heal the bodies and minds of so many- first as a general PT, and later as a Certified Hand Therapist. Susie worked in Ross, Kentfield, Larkspur, Greenbrae, and most recently at CPMC Hospital, Davies Campus in San Francisco. She spread love to her patients and colleagues wherever she went. In addition to her time as a PT, Susie was a labor coach with Read Natural Childbirth in Marin in the 70s and 80s, where she guided young parents-to-be through the joys of natural childbirth. Susie maintained strong connections through her life - Ashtabula, Ithaca, Creative Initiative, the Terra Linda Co-op, her PT colleagues and patients, and her large network of treasured friends and family. She was a traveler, a quilter, and a marvelous cook. She was a fixture in the local lacrosse community, spending years cheering on generations of family and friends. She looked forward to many special annual events such as the Mothers Day outing, the annual cookie party, trips to Cloverdale, and volunteering for the street painting festival in San Rafael. She searched to enrich her spiritual life and grew through adventures, seminars, vision quests, and professional and spiritual studies. Susie Buck is survived by sons Trevor (Billie) and Darren; grandchildren Riley, Luke, and Blair; her brothers Richard (Kathy) Hill and William (Alix) Hill of Florida and Ashtabula, Ohio; her former husband Stockton of Bolinas, her loving sister-in-law Leigh Friedman, and many nieces and nephews. Her beloved partner, Peter, stood strong by her side throughout her illness, and for many good times and amazing adventures these past two years. Susie lives as an angel among us; her profound influence is felt on our lives. A celebration of Susie's life will be held on April 19th in Marin.
