Fred Walter Brauer, Jr. Age 88, longtime resident of Novato, CA, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2013, at his daughter's home in Hillsborough, CA. Walt was born in San Francisco and grew up in Mill Valley where he became an Eagle Scout. He followed his father's footsteps and worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad which led to the meeting of his beloved wife and his passion for trains. Except for the time he spent in the Navy, he lived his long life in Marin County. He loved spending time in his garden. Family and visitors were often sent home with a gorgeous bouquet of roses from his garden. He was preceded in death two years ago by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Brauer. Survived by his children Diana Kobayashi, Linda Finch and Kenneth Brauer, nephews Mark and Scott, grandchildren Nicholas, Natalie, Dylan, Noah, Rachel and Nigel and great nephews Sam and Andy. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, November 10th at 11:00 a.m. at The Neptune Society, 1645 El Camino Real, Belmont, CA.
