Obituary Condolences

Gloria Laverne Piatanesi Passed away peacefully with her beloved husband by her side on October 11, 2013. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Gloria was born October 19, 1928 in San Francisco to Nelda and Louis Ballestrazze. As a child, her father affectionately called her "Shrimp". This nickname always brought a smile to her face and a fond memory of her father. Gloria married Gordon Piatanesi April 22, 1950. The love the two of them shared was remarkable and a true inspiration to all that knew them. Gloria suffered a stroke on September 28. On October 3rd, she was moved to the same nursing home her husband has been in since November last year. She spent her remaining days in the same room next to the love of her life, holding hands. Gloria was a long time resident of Fairfax and a devout member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Gloria is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gordon, son Thomas (Judi), son Scott (Christina) three grandsons, Mark Piatanesi, Jeff Shannon, and Bryan Shannon, three great grandsons, Justin, Brayden, and Breck Shannon, brother Robert Ballestrazze, sister-in-law Margaret Panelli, brother-in-law Gary Piatanesi, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church, 100 Marinda Drive, Fairfax. Thursday October 17th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family request a memorial donation in her name to any of the following, The American Diabetes Foundation, , or St. Rita Church.
