JACK COOK Obituary

Jack R. Cook Born Johnie Roy Cook on July 14th, 1928 in Miami, Arizona he was known as Jack or Cookie to everyone! Jack left the copper mining town of Miami and went to Tempe Normal, which later became Arizona State University, before moving to San Francisco in 1950. He was always very mechanically inclined and good with his hands; he could fix anything. Upon arriving in San Francisco he took a job as an airline mechanic with Pan American Airways. This enabled him to travel around the world and later he met his wife Jennie, who was a stewardess and an accountant for Transocean Airlines. They were married in 1961 and had one child named Christopher. The family moved to the top of Piedmont Ct. in Larkspur in 1964. Jack lived a very balanced and full life. He loved to laugh, tell stories and be with people. He was a car enthusiast who restored 60s classic Mustangs. He built his first car at the age of 11. He and his family also enjoyed Quarter Midget Racing for 10 years culminating with two National Championships in 1972. Jack and Jennie were also true 49er Faithful fans. They have had 49ers season tickets since 1971 and Jack had tickets dating back to 1957. They also were privileged to attend four 49er's Super Bowl victories. Jack was easy to spot in Larkspur as he roared down Magnolia Ave. in his purple painted '67 Ranchero called "9ERJACK" with his faithful Chocolate Lab named "Jazz" hanging her happy face out the window. Jack worked as a Plant Manager for Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. in Daly City and as an Engineer and Salesman for Crown Cork and Seal. His local legacy was building the bottling lines, canning lines and infrastructure for The Anheuser Busch Budweiser Plant in Fairfield in 1977. He retired in 1994 after a mild stroke. Jack battled with dementia / alzheimers for five years and finally succumbed to his death by natural causes while in residency of a care facility in Novato on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010 at age 82. He is survived by his wife Jennie and son Chris. Memorial services will take place at Keaton's Mortuary 1022 E Street, San Rafael at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 16th. Memorial contributions may be sent to The American Cancer Society or the YMCA Embarcadero 169 Steuart St. San Francisco, CA 94105 Attention: Nils / Adaptive PE.
