James Joseph Turrini

Obituary Condolences

James Joseph Turrini Passed away peacefully in his home on December 26, 2013 after fighting a long term battle with numerous health issues. He was born December 22, 1925 in San Rafael and was a lifetime resident of Marin County, living in San Anselmo. Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanette. When asked how long he has been married he would say "all his life" meaning he could not imagine a time in his life without her. Enlisting at 17 years old to serve his country, Jim served in the Navy Medical Core on the USS Chilton in World War II. Returning to marry his childhood sweetheart Jim attended USF while working at San Quentin Prison in the Accounting Department. Upon graduating, he worked for Franchise Tax Board in management, providing leadership, training and mentoring to many staff members for over 35 years. Upon retiring he began another career as the controller of Dale Cox Distributing, Inc. which he continued to be employed by until a few weeks before his death. Jim was completely devoted to his family. He was a committed son to Marina and Pietro Turrini who immigrated from Livemmo, Italy and loved being raised in a large family as the loving brother to nine brothers and sisters. He was a dedicated husband, loving father who will be deeply missed by Janice Turrini of Santa Rosa, Bob Turrini (wife Liz) of Novato, and Tom Turrini (wife Sue) of Windsor. He was the beloved grandfather of Angela Garvic (husband Josh), Jeff Turrini (wife Corinne), Daniel Turrini, Kelsey Turrini, Tanner Turrini, Hayden Turrin and Natal Turrini. The family is grateful for the help and support given to him the last few years of his life by Dodi, Lucia and Griselda. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anselms Catholic Church, 97 Shady Lane, Ross at 10:00AM February 1st, 2014. Reception to follow. Assisting in arrangements Monte's Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo.
