Woody, Nathan, Locke & Al (2000)

Locke, you were the first relative to come and visit us in our new place and that meant the world to Woody, Nathan & I. We had just moved to Medford, OR after spending 38 years in Marin. We bought our first house ever and, you and Al came to visit. We had a blast. You cooked us breakfast & we took you and Al to Jacksonville & Ashland. Unforgettable memories.

Locke, you lit up our lives. We miss you so much.
I first got to know you when you walked me back to my hotel room at the Internet Librarian Conference just after I started work as the Sacramento Regional Librarian at USF in 1997. You befriended me, and we've emailed ever since. Thank you for the wonderful work that you did in our library, for all of your help, and for all of the mentoring of budding librarians. I'll remember your sweet nature.

I only got to meet Locke last year and loved his smiling face and sense of humor. Thank you, Al, for introducing us and for being such a loving partner to Locke.

What a beautiful description of Locke, his life, and his commitment to and impact on others. He will be missed by so many. Just as he was admired by others while alive, this tribute will inspire us all to emulate Locke as a living memorial to him. Rest in peace, Locke.
