MARILYN PLATH Obituary

Marilyn Lusher Plath " Lyn" Died peacefully at home in San Rafael on 9th March 2010 of COPD, with her daughter by her side. Born April 29, 1933 in Waukegan, Illinois to Cora (ne) Johnson Lusher and Miles Harlo Lusher. Survived by son Mark Plath, daughter Gail Plath Napell (Bruce) and grandchildren Isaac and Tova Napell. Also survived by David Plath, father of Mark and Gail. Lyn lived a rich full life, attending high school at Wayland Academy (Beaver Dam, Wisconsin) and receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Grinnell College in Iowa. In 1967 she received her MSW from the University of Illinois. She lived in Boston, Japan, Berkeley, Iowa City, Champaign (Illinois), San Diego, Peoria (Arizona) finally retiring to San Rafael. She worked in administration at Family Service Agencies in Urbana, Illinois and San Diego, California. She served as a Social Work Counselor at Interfaith Service of the Sun Cities Area, Arizona for the last twelve years of her professional career Lyn enjoyed travel. She lived in Japan for several years, and spent one academic year circumnavigating the world with her family and a group of college students. She also traveled throughout the USA, Europe, Scandinavia, the British Isles, Micronesia, Indonesia, and Mexico. Lyn loved music and belonged to choruses and choirs throughout her life. Since 2000 Lyn was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Marin, involved in the choir, ministerial search , pastoral care, and committee on ministry. Lyn will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to UUCM, or a charity or social cause of your choice. A celebration of Lyn's life will be held at UUCM, 240 Channing Way, San Rafael, on Saturday April 17th at 2 pm.

Lyn was one of my best friends. I felt I could talk to her whenever I wanted. She was a great listener. She is missed.
