MARK HODEL Obituary

Mark Hodel Died October 22, 2010 in Milwaukee WI, age 57. Mark was the beloved son of Eugenio Dan Hodel of Zurich Switzerland and Peggy Ann Page of Omaha NE. He is survived by his son Andrew Hodel, his sisters Ann, Page, and Alexandra Hodel. Mark was born in Larkspur, CA in 1953. In 1978 he moved to Stockton to start a plastic business Del Astra, manufacturing waterbeds. When Mark was 11 he began his lifelong passion for the martial arts. He dedicated the rest of his life to pursuing his practice, training with his mentor the grandmaster of the Bujinkan tradition, Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi-Sensei. Mark was the fifth American in history to pass the Godan Test (5th degree Black belt) and received the highest honor of 15th Dan. Mark taught martial arts and started the Bujinkan Stockton Dojo influencing thousands of students. I first met Mark my freshman year at Redwood high school in Corte Madera (968). I'll always remember his great sense of humor, lightening quick wit and warm friendship during our high school years. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.
