MILDRED SIMON Obituary

Mildred Adaline von Rotz Simon Born September 5, 1928 in Marin County, died peacefully at home on September 17, 2010. She lived her life in Fairfax and San Anselmo. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Jim Simon Sr. (1992), her parents, Mariele and Adalbert von Rotz, and her sister, Mary Lou Denning (2010). Mildred is survived by her loving children Laura Schumacher (Steve), and Gary Simon (Debbie), of Fairfax, Steve Simon of Los Molinas, CA, James Simon Jr. (Linda) of Nicasio, Cindy Larsen (Jim) of Novato, Tom Simon (Julie) of Burnt Ranch CA, and Dan Simon and Mike Simon of San Anselmo. She was also adored by 15 grandchildren, Wendy, Sheila, Shannon, Kimberley, Tina, Kelly, Stevie, James III, Cory, Nancy, Jimmy, Sara, Cassidy, James, and Ashley, 12 great-grandchildren, and a large number of close relatives in Switzerland. Mildred will always be remembered for her love of her family, the SF Giants, soap operas, jigsaw puzzles, car trips with her husband, pets, her outrageous chili recipe, awe inspiring-over-the-top Christmas decorations, chocolate chip cookies, and playing the penny machines in Reno. Our family would like to give special thanks to Mereisi Vogailagi who cared for and became a very dear friend to Mildred over the past year and to Rhea's Home Care in Point Reyes Station, for their incredible services. A Rosary is planned for 7:00 PM on Wednesday September 22, with visitation on the same day from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Monte's Chapel of the Hills, 330 Redhill Ave., San Anselmo. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday September 23, at St Anselm's Church, 97 Shady Lane, San Anselmo, CA. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice of Santa Rosa CA. (707) 523-0111. We love you Grandma, Hamma, Gooma.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss... I have nothing but fond memories and smiles when I think of your mom. Mike, do you remember when we went to Fairfax Lumber to pick up Richard's brother--("Peat" Moss) when we were trying to plant a lawn in your back yard? Or listening to Foster Brooks on the stereo that lit up with the sound. :-)
