PENNY ASPEY Obituary

Penny Aspey Loving wife of Donald Aspey and mother of three daughters, Leslie, Stacie, and Dana, passed away peacefully at home with family and friends November 15, 2010. Stacie passed away November 15, 2006. Penny was the daughter of the late Scott and Claire Tilden of San Rafael. She is also survived by three grandsons, and two granddaughters, and her sister Crispin Tilden. Penny attended elementary and high school in San Rafael and maintained lasting friendships with many of her classmates. Penny and Don met while she was a student at College of Marin and he was stationed with the Air Force on Mt. Tamalpais. They married in 1958 and lived in San Rafael, Novato, and Lower Lake before moving to Ft. Bragg. Penny's considerable talent for design is apparent in their house and garden. Penny was a watercolor artist, a weaver, and worked for 20 years assisting local folks with their gardens. Her own garden was a showplace and she created beauty wherever she went. Her personal beauty and grace in the face of her lengthy illness was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed traveling in the US and Europe, vintage movies, and trips with Don and friends in their Model A Fords. She was a member of a local book group, and in the past had been a docent for the Kelly House Museum in Mendocino. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Hospice or a charity of your choice.
