Phillip Francis Vizcarra Obituary
Phillip Francis Vizcarra Jan 29, 1927 May 9, 2018 Phillip Francis Vizcarra passed away peacefully on May 9, 2018 at the age of 91. Born and raised in San Diego, Phil graduated from San Diego High School in June 1944 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. After boot camp and specialized training at the University of Idaho, he served 2 years on active duty, part of that time with the occupation forces in the Far East. After the war he attended San Diego State College and then spent his working years in accounting and finance in Washington, DC and San Francisco. He was for many years the general manager of Marin Federal Credit Union in San Rafael. He retired in 1992 but kept busy with his many interests. He was an avid reader and history buff and was active with the Mountain Play, where he wore many hats, among them a period on the board. He also served on the Board of the Strawberry Recreation District and was active in the Sons of Norway and the Kiwanis Club. He met his wife Turid in San Francisco and they were married in 1960. In 1966 they moved to Mill Valley where they enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and good neighbors all those years. They traveled extensively in the U.S., Canada, Central America and throughout Europe, particularly Norway to visit Turid's family. He was a smart, kind and good man and will be sorely missed. Phil is survived by his son Phillip A. Vizcarra (Sarah), granddaughter Danielle and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in San Rafael at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 with a reception to follow immediately afterward at the Inn Marin in Novato.
